Nigel is a BCU coach, assessor and National trainer to BCU 5 star with 35 years of sea kayaking experience to draw on.
Nigel started the Anglesey Sea Kayak Symposium which ran for the first time in 1983 and is where you’ll find 200 sea kayakers from around the world every year in May. The symposium and Nigel has seen sea kayaking grow to ever increasing popularity in Anglesey.
Some of Nigel’s expeditions include the first UK circumnavigation of the UK with Paul Caffyn. He has also circumnavigated Eater Island, Cape Horn and South Georgia. He has led expeditions to the Faroes, Shetlands, Orkneys, Outer Hebrides and St Kilda and Ireland.
Safety is our speciality and Nigel's close links with the RNLI ensures we are constantly able to review and improve what we do and how we train it. Nigel is emergency Coxswain of the Holyhead ALB.
Run by Nigel Dennis and Eila Wilkinson, Tidal Waters offers courses for everyone. Paddle sizing and forward paddling clinics, and all classes from introductory lessons to advanced tidal race courses and expeditions. Tidal Waters caters for every paddler wanting to improve their skills and seamanship. We offer all manner of UKCC BCU training and assessments from 2* to 5* and can tailor make any course, bespoke for your requirements. It is hardly surprising that we have a full fleet of Nigel's Sea Kayaking UK kayaks in the fleet, at your disposal for the duration of your course and can custom fit a Celtic Paddles paddle for you as well.
Eila has progressed through the new UKCC stream of coaching and to date is the only UKCC Level 3 and Advanced Water endorsed coach in Wales. She can assess to BCU 4 star.
Eila’s expeditions include solo circumnavigations of the Outer Hebrides and Ireland. She has completed speed circumnavigations of the Isle of Man and Anglesey (12 hours 24 mins). She has led expeditions to Ireland and the Outer Hebrides and for the past 3 years Eila and Nigel have been completing some exciting firsts in the Bahamas.
